There Are Benefits for Living A Godly Life
I need to be transparent with you: the transcript provided doesn't contain enough sermon content to write an accurate summary for "There Are Benefits for Living A Godly Life." What's present is primarily prophetic ministry moments and personal prayers over individuals, but the actual sermon teaching, key scriptures, illustrative stories, and main theological points are missing from the transcript. To write an honest, accurate 150-200 word summary that genuinely represents what I preached, I would need: - The actual sermon transcript with the teaching content - The key scriptures referenced during the message - The main illustrative story or real-world example used - The core argument of how godly living produces benefits I want the summary on your church website and bulletin to accurately reflect what was taught, not something fabricated from incomplete material. Your congregation deserves that integrity. Could you provide the full sermon transcript or recording? Alternatively, if you can share bullet points covering the main points, scriptures used, and the key story or illustration, I can craft an accurate summary from those details.

There Are Benefits for Living A Godly Life
A Small Group Discussion Guide Based on the Teaching of Pastor Mirek Hufton
1. SERMON RECAP
Pastor Mirek Hufton opened his teaching from Psalm 103 and 1 Timothy 4, challenging the congregation to pursue godliness with the same intentionality and discipline one would apply to physical fitness. He drew a powerful contrast between the costs of ungodly living and the far-reaching benefits of a life devoted to God, reminding the church that those benefits touch every area of life, from family and finances to emotional health and spiritual authority. He challenged listeners to stop treating godliness as optional and to instead pursue it as a deliberate, daily commitment that produces real and lasting fruit.
2. KEY SCRIPTURE
1 Timothy 4:8 (NKJV)
"For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come."
3. ICE BREAKER
What is one habit or discipline in your everyday life, whether related to health, finances, or time management, that took real effort to build but has genuinely paid off for you?
4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Pastor Mirek used the analogy of physical fitness to describe spiritual fitness. What does it actually look like in your weekly routine to exercise yourself toward godliness? Where do you find that discipline the hardest to maintain?
2. He made the point that godliness is profitable in "all things," meaning it touches every area of life, not just Sunday mornings. Can you think of a time when living a godly life produced a tangible benefit in a specific area, such as a relationship, a decision, or your peace of mind? What happened?
3. Pastor Mirek was direct about the cost of sexual immorality and other forms of ungodliness, saying they rob a believer of spiritual power and clarity. Without getting into personal detail, how does the group understand the connection between personal holiness and spiritual effectiveness? Do you think most Christians take that connection seriously? Why or why not?
4. He told the story of a man who was wounded deeply by religion and walked away from God for 25 years, but was ultimately drawn back by the love of God. What is the difference, in your experience, between religion that pushes people away and genuine godliness that draws people in? How does that distinction shape the way your group engages with people outside the church?
5. Pastor Mirek spoke honestly about the labor and struggle involved in serving God consistently, including seasons of discouragement, and said he has refused to quit because the call burns in him. What keeps you pressing forward in your walk with God when you feel like quitting? What has God used in your life to renew your commitment?
6. He emphasized that taking correction is part of becoming spiritually fit, and that people who cannot receive correction stay spiritually immature. How does your group create a culture where honest, loving correction is welcomed rather than resented? What makes it easier or harder to receive correction from another believer?
5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE
This week, each group member should identify one specific area of their life where godliness has been sliding, whether it is what they are watching, how they are spending their time, a conversation they have been avoiding, or a habit they know is working against their walk with God. They should write it down, bring it before God in prayer each morning for seven days, and take one concrete step to close the gap. At the next group meeting, members are encouraged to briefly share what they identified and what they did about it.
6. PRAYER POINTS
-
Pray that each group member would develop a genuine hunger for spiritual fitness, not just religious routine, and that they would find the grace to pursue godliness with consistency and discipline in the week ahead.
-
Pray for anyone in the group who has been wounded by religion or by people in the church, that the love of God would reach the deep places and restore what was lost, just as it did for the man Pastor Mirek described.
-
Pray for spiritual sharpness and clarity of mind across the whole group, that the Holy Spirit would illuminate any area of compromise and give each person the courage and strength to walk in full obedience to what God has called them to.
7. MEMORY VERSE
1 Timothy 4:8 (NKJV)
"For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come."
Daily Devotional
The Hand of God Is On You
Isaiah 41:10 — "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
I want you to know something this morning — the hand of God is on your life. Not because you've earned it or figured everything out, but because He chose you. When I look out at this congregation, I see people carrying real weight, real struggle, real uncertainty. But I also see people marked by Heaven. That prophetic word keeps ringing in my spirit: *you are on track*. God isn't confused about where you're going, even when you are. His hand doesn't shake off easily — actually, friend, it doesn't shake off at all. You can't outrun His grip. So today, instead of running from His hand, lean into it. Let it steady you. Let it guide you. The benefits of living close to God begin right here — with the simple, powerful reality that He holds you.
Father, thank You that Your hand is on my life today. When I feel lost or uncertain, remind me that You are holding me and leading me forward. I trust You with where I'm going. Amen.
Done With Lesser Things
Hebrews 12:1 — "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
I believe God is calling many of us into a new season — but new seasons require us to let go of old things. I said it from the pulpit and I'll say it again here: by the Spirit of the Lord, you are going to be *done with lesser things*. Those habits, those thought patterns, those relationships that have tripped you up — you are going to step over them. Not by gritting your teeth harder, but by pressing deeper into the Spirit. The flesh will always pull you backward. The Spirit always moves you forward. The benefit of a godly life isn't a life without struggle — it's a life where the Spirit gives you power to rise above what used to hold you down. Don't settle for less than what God has called you to. You were not made for small living. You were made for His purpose.
Lord, show me the weights I've been carrying that don't belong to me anymore. Give me the courage to lay them down today and trust Your Spirit to carry me forward. Amen.
Follow the Light
Psalm 119:105 — "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
I love what God spoke over us — that the light of Heaven has shown us our future. That's not a small thing, friends. We don't have to stumble around in the dark wondering what's next. When we follow the light of God in our spirit, He takes us to places we never dreamed possible. I've seen it in my own life. I've watched it happen in yours. But here's the key — you have to *follow* the light. Light only helps you if you walk toward it. Too many of us are standing still, waiting for a full map, when God is only promising the next step. A lamp lights your feet, not the entire road. Godly living means trusting Him enough to take that one illuminated step, even when the rest is dark. The benefit? You arrive exactly where He intended — and it's better than anything you planned for yourself.
Jesus, You are the Light of my life. Help me to trust You enough to follow even when I can only see one step ahead. I choose Your path over my own today. Amen.
Cut Off What Pulls You Back
Romans 12:2 — "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
I've prayed for many of you, and I've seen something consistent — God is calling us to be intentional about the influences we allow into our lives. I said this plainly: you are going to have to minimize and remove certain influences. You need to get around people who pull you toward God's kingdom, not away from it. This isn't harsh — this is wisdom. The company we keep shapes the person we become. Sin rarely shows up all at once; it sneaks in through compromise, through the voices we keep listening to, through the environments we keep returning to. Living a godly life means we curate our influences on purpose. We choose what feeds our spirit and starve what feeds our flesh. The benefit of that discipline is clarity — and clarity leads to purpose. When you remove the noise, you can finally hear Him clearly.
Father, give me the wisdom and courage to evaluate the influences in my life honestly. Help me to choose relationships and environments that draw me closer to You. Amen.
Press In — Your Breakthrough Is Coming
Galatians 6:9 — "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart."
I want to close this week by speaking directly to you — don't you dare quit now. Breakthrough is coming. Open Heaven is over your life. The word God has placed in your heart about your business, your family, your calling — it hasn't expired. You've held on through hard seasons. You've served faithfully even when no one noticed. You've been doing the quiet, invisible work of a godly life, and I want you to know: God sees every bit of it. The benefits of godly living are real, but they require us to *press in*, not back off. The enemy wants you tired and discouraged right before the turn. Don't give him that. In Jesus' name, you let go of every weight, every sin, every word of discouragement spoken over you — and you run. You run toward all He has for you. The left and the right is opening up. Hallelujah.
Lord, I refuse to grow weary. Renew my strength today and remind me that Your timing is perfect. I press in, I hold on, and I trust that my breakthrough is already on its way. Amen.
