A Small Group Discussion Guide Based on the Teaching by Pastor Mirek Hufton

He challenged the group to move beyond vague, hopeful wishing and instead bring focused, scripture-backed petitions before God with genuine faith. 4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Pastor Mirek pointed out that the word "you" appears five times in John 15:7, shifting the responsibility for answered prayer toward the believer rather than placing it entirely on God. How does that reframe the way your group thinks about unanswered prayer? Does it feel uncomfortable or freeing, and why?

2. He stressed the importance of deciding what you actually want from God before you pray, rather than offering quick, off-the-cuff requests. How does a person go about truly discerning what they want and need from God — and how can the Word of God help clarify that process?

3. Pastor Mirek described how he and his wife would write down specific prayer requests, pray over them together in agreement, and then watch answers come one by one. What do you think made that approach so effective? What practical barriers might keep people from praying with that kind of intentionality?

4. He drew a distinction between natural faith — believing what you can see and touch — and spiritual faith, which believes and confesses what the Word of God says even against contrary evidence. Where in your own life is it most difficult to hold on to spiritual faith when circumstances say otherwise?

5. Pastor Mirek referenced Matthew 7:7-8, where Jesus says to ask, seek, and knock — noting that even though God already knows our needs, He still calls us to articulate our requests. Why do you think God designed prayer to work that way? What does the act of asking do in the heart of the one who is praying?

6. He encouraged the group to find specific scriptures related to whatever they are believing God for — healing, finances, family salvation, ministry — and to bring those promises directly back to God in prayer. How confident does your group feel about locating and applying scripture that way? What would help build that confidence?

5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE

Before the next group meeting, each member should choose one specific need they are currently bringing before God. They should then find at least two scripture promises that directly address that need, write them down alongside the specific request, and pray over both of them out loud at least once each day for the coming week. Members should come prepared to share one observation about how that practice affected their faith or their perspective on the situation.

6. PRAYER POINTS

• Pray that each group member would develop greater clarity and specificity in their prayer lives, moving from general hoping into focused, Word-based petitions that they can stand on with confidence.

• Pray for those in the group who are currently waiting on an answer to prayer that has not yet come, asking God to strengthen their faith against doubt and discouragement so they do not give up before the breakthrough arrives.

• Pray that the Holy Spirit would fulfill His role as teacher and guide in the prayer lives of every member, building them up from the inside and helping them pray with both accuracy and power.
