"God's Word Is Alive and Powerful"

Based on the teaching of Pastor Mirek Hufton

1. SERMON RECAP

Pastor Mirek shared that the Word of God is not a dead religious text but a living, breathing, Spirit-filled reality that carries the very DNA of God within it. He challenged the congregation to move beyond a casual, surface-level relationship with Scripture and to begin treating the Word as the most precious and powerful possession they have. He reminded us that the amount of Word planted and cultivated on the inside of a believer directly determines their ability to reign in life, unlock their inheritance, and walk in the fullness of what God has made available to them.

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Think back to a time when a single sentence someone spoke to you changed your entire outlook on a situation. What was it about those words that carried so much weight?

4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Pastor Mirek opened by saying he wants the Word of God to become "the most precious, powerful thing you have in your possession." On an honest scale, where would you place the Word of God in your daily life right now compared to other things that compete for your attention?

Allow group members to respond honestly without judgment. Remind the group this is a safe space for transparency.

2. He described the Word of God as a seed carrying the very DNA of God, and said that whatever is planted in the heart has the power to replicate God's nature on the inside of a person. What does it mean to you personally that God's divine nature has been imparted to you through His Word? Does that feel real, or does it still feel like a theological idea?

Encourage the group to sit with any tension between what they know in their heads and what they have actually experienced.

3. Pastor Mirek pointed to 2 Peter 1:3-4 and emphasized that access to healing, prosperity, and dominion over darkness are all part of a believer's inheritance, but that revelation knowledge of the Word is the key that unlocks those doors. Have you ever experienced a moment where a scripture suddenly became real to you in a way it never had before? What shifted in your life because of it?

Give space for personal stories. These are often the most powerful moments in a discussion.

4. He was direct in saying that a little bit of the Word produces a little bit of strength, and that the amount of Word on the inside of a person determines how much dominion they walk in. Without placing guilt on anyone, what are the honest obstacles that keep most believers, including ourselves, from going deeper into Scripture on a consistent basis?

This question invites practical honesty. Help the group move past generic answers like "I am too busy" and get to the real reasons.

5. Pastor Mirek described the boldness that grows in a person as their knowledge of the Word increases, using the example of Peter stepping out of the boat on a single word from Jesus. Where in your own life do you feel God may be saying "Come" to you right now, and what would it look like to step out onto that word in faith?

This is meant to be a forward-looking, faith-building question. Encourage specificity rather than vague answers.

6. He warned that when the Word is minimized or treated as a side issue, it is never for a person's good, especially in the days we are living in. As a group, what are some practical, realistic ways we can encourage one another to elevate the Word together, not just individually?

Let this question lead naturally into the application challenge below.

5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE

This week, choose one specific scripture from this sermon, such as Hebrews 4:12, 2 Peter 1:3-4, or John 6:63, and read it aloud every morning and every evening for seven days. Do not simply read it silently. Speak it out. Keep a brief note on your phone or in a journal of any thought, impression, or shift in perspective that comes as a result. Come back next week ready to share one observation from that experience.

6. PRAYER POINTS

• Pray that each person in the group would develop a genuine hunger for the Word of God that goes beyond obligation or routine, and that the Holy Spirit would make Scripture come alive in a fresh way this week.

• Pray for breakthrough in any area of a group member's life where the enemy has used a lack of Word-knowledge to keep them from walking in their inheritance, whether that involves health, relationships, finances, or personal identity.

• Pray for the church as a whole, that it would become a community known for its deep rootedness in Scripture and its boldness in living out and proclaiming the Word both inside the building and in the surrounding city.

John 6:63 (NKJV)

"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life."

Leader's Note: Do not feel pressure to get through every question. It is better to go deep on two or three questions than to rush through all six. Let the conversation breathe, and trust the Holy Spirit to lead the room.
