See Yourself With The Answer

Pastor Mirek Hufton · 2025-10-15

Most of us want answers to prayer, but wanting isn't enough. In this message, Pastor Mirek walks through the practical, biblical steps that move prayer from a religious routine into a faith-filled, word-grounded conversation with God that actually produces results. If you've been praying and not seeing answers, this is the message you need.

See Yourself With The Answer

Small Group Discussion Guide

Based on the teaching by Pastor Mirek Hufton

1. SERMON RECAP

Pastor Mirek Hufton continued his deep-dive series on prayer, challenging the congregation to move beyond vague, off-the-cuff praying and into a disciplined, Word-centered approach to receiving answers from God. He walked through practical steps for effective prayer, with particular focus on the power of spiritual vision, learning to see yourself with the answer before the answer physically arrives. He emphasized that the conditions found in John 15:7 are not suggestions but requirements, and that positioning ourselves in faith through meditating on God's Word is the key that unlocks answered prayer.

2. KEY SCRIPTURE

Mark 11:24 (NKJV)

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

3. ICE BREAKER

Think of a time in your life when you pictured something going well before it actually happened, a job interview, a difficult conversation, a sports moment, and it turned out exactly as you imagined. What did that experience feel like?

4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. Getting Honest About Our Prayer Life Pastor Mirek pointed out that many of us pray too vaguely and too quickly, and that "quick-draw McGraw prayers" rarely produce the results we hope for. How would you honestly describe your own prayer life right now — specific and intentional, or more general and routine? What makes it difficult to slow down and be deliberate in prayer?

2. Meeting the Conditions He drew attention to the word "if" in John 15:7, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you...", noting that answered prayer is conditional, not automatic. What do you think it practically looks like for someone to abide in Christ and for His Word to abide in them on a daily basis? Where does that feel straightforward, and where does it feel genuinely hard?

3. The Battle for the Mind Pastor Mirek was direct about the responsibility every believer carries to guard their thought life, referencing 2 Corinthians 10:5 and the need to cast down thoughts of doubt. He compared sizing up incoming thoughts to inspecting eggs on a farm, not every thought gets kept. What kinds of thoughts most commonly try to undermine your faith when you are standing on a promise from God? How do you currently deal with them?

4. The Power of Spiritual Vision A significant portion of the message focused on seeing yourself with the answer, the idea that faith has a visual dimension. Pastor Mirek shared the example of Kenneth Hagin, who turned from seeing himself in a coffin to seeing himself preaching and writing sermons, and who eventually walked out of his sickbed healed. Why do you think what we picture on the inside has such a powerful effect on what we ultimately receive or experience on the outside? Does this idea connect with anything you have seen in your own walk with God?

5. Meditation Versus Casual Reading He made a distinction between casually reading Scripture and truly meditating on it, letting the Word paint pictures on the inside, becoming so immersed in a passage that it becomes real and vivid. What is your current relationship with Scripture meditation? Is it a regular practice, something you have tried occasionally, or largely unfamiliar territory? What would it take to make it more consistent?

6. Positioning, Not Condemnation Pastor Mirek was careful to say that if someone is not yet seeing answers to prayer, it is not about God withholding, it is about positioning. He encouraged humility, saying the response should not be guilt but rather a willingness to keep learning and tuning in. How does that framing sit with you? Does it feel freeing, challenging, or somewhere in between, and why?

5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE

This week, choose one specific need or prayer request that you have been bringing to God in a general way. Write it down, then find at least two Scripture verses that directly address that need. Spend five to ten minutes each day reading those verses slowly, asking God to help you picture yourself with the answer already received. At the end of the week, write two or three sentences describing what, if anything, shifted in how you feel about that situation. Come ready to share a brief update at your next group meeting.

6. PRAYER POINTS

  • Pray that each group member would develop a genuine hunger for the Word of God that moves beyond routine and into real meditation, allowing Scripture to become vivid and alive on the inside.

  • Pray for specific breakthroughs in the areas where group members have been standing in faith, that God would help each person position themselves correctly through His Word and begin to see the answers He has already prepared for them.

  • Pray for protection over the minds of everyone in the group, that doubt, fear, and discouraging thoughts would be recognized and cast down quickly, and that a spirit of faith and expectation would grow stronger with each passing week.

7. MEMORY VERSE

Hebrews 12:2a (NKJV)

"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith..."

Take time before your group meets to read through Mark 11:23-24 and John 15:7 alongside this guide. The goal of discussion is not to arrive at perfect answers but to grow together in applying God's Word to real life.

Abiding Is the Starting Place

John 15:7 — "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you."

I want to be honest with you, I have looked at this verse so many times that I nearly stopped seeing it. And that is exactly the danger. We quote these scriptures so quickly, so glibly, that we treat them like decoration instead of doorways. But when I really slowed down on Wednesday and sat with this verse, it wrecked me in the best way. The promise is enormous. Whatever you desire. Done for you. But the condition comes first: abiding. Not visiting. Not quoting. Abiding. That means staying in him, letting his word take up real residence in you. It is not complicated, but it is not casual either. If your prayers feel like they are bouncing off the ceiling, I want to gently ask you: are you abiding, or are you just asking?

Lord, I do not want a surface relationship with your word. Teach me what it means to truly abide in you so that my asking comes from a place of genuine connection. Let your word take deep root in me today.

Set aside ten minutes today to sit quietly with one scripture that relates to something you are believing God for. Read it slowly, out loud, more than once.
Tuesday

Ask Specifically and Believe You Receive

Mark 11:24 — "Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

One of the things I pressed on Wednesday is that we are far too vague in our praying. We throw up these loose, general prayers and then wonder why nothing seems to move. Jesus did not say, "Ask something vague and hope for the best." He said whatever things you ask, and that requires you to actually decide what you want from God. That is step one that I walked through, and I cannot overstate it. You have to think it through, find the scriptures that cover your need, bring them before God, and then ask with the expectation that you are receiving right now, not someday. Believing that you receive happens at the moment of prayer, not the moment the answer shows up. That is the faith step. That is where so many of us stall. But I believe you can take that step today.

Father, I come to you specifically today about what I need. I choose to believe right now that I receive, even before I see it with my eyes. Help my faith to stay steady and not waver.

Write down one specific thing you are believing God for. Find at least one scripture that promises or supports it, and pray over it out loud today using that scripture as your foundation.
Wednesday

Guard the Gate of Your Mind

Proverbs 4:20 — "My son, attend to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart."

I said on Wednesday that your mind is the gateway to your spirit. I meant every word of it. Solomon is not being poetic here, he is being strategic. Attend to my words. Incline your ear. Do not let them leave your eyes. He is describing active, intentional, protective engagement with the word of God. Because the enemy is not passive. He will plant a thought, and if you do not size it up and throw it out, it will take root. I know from personal experience that a wrong picture — what you see on the inside of you — will drag you down just as surely as Brother Hagin testified about seeing himself in the coffin. You cannot afford to let fear, doubt, or discouraging words live rent-free in your head. Attend to the word. Guard what goes in.

Lord, I want to be an active listener to your word, not a passive one. Help me today to catch every thought that contradicts what you have said and replace it with your truth. Keep my mind stayed on you.

Identify one recurring negative thought that has been undermining your faith. Write it down, then write a scripture that directly contradicts it. Speak that scripture aloud every time the negative thought tries to return today.
Thursday

See It Before You Have It

Hebrews 12:2 — "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

What drove Jesus to endure the cross was not just duty, it was vision. He saw the joy set before him. He saw the outcome before it arrived. That is what I am talking about when I say you have to see yourself with the answer. This is not positive thinking borrowed from a corporate seminar. This is biblical. Abraham saw the stars and believed. Moses saw the reward. Brother Hagin saw himself getting up, walking out, preaching sermons, and he started writing them while he was still bedridden. Vision built his faith before his body agreed. You have to get a picture on the inside of you of what you are believing God for. You have to see yourself healed, restored, provided for, walking in what God promised, before the natural evidence lines up. What you see on the inside will shape what happens on the outside.

Jesus, you modeled what it means to live by vision and not by what is visible. Give me eyes to see what you have prepared for me, and let that image become so real on the inside of me that my faith rises to meet it.

Spend five minutes today quietly imagining yourself having received the answer to your prayer, not in a wishful way, but as an act of faith. Picture it in detail and thank God for it as if it is already done.
Friday

Position Yourself to Receive

Mark 11:23 — "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says."

I want to leave you this week with something that set me free and I believe will set you free too. God is not the one withholding. He is not sitting in heaven looking for reasons to say no. The issue is never on his end. He said it plainly, whoever believes and does not doubt will have what they say. The mountain moves. Every time. Our part is positioning. It is abiding. It is attending to the word. It is guarding our minds. It is seeing the answer. It is staying in faith and not caving to what we see or feel. Caleb and Joshua saw the same giants as the other ten. They chose a different picture. That choice made them champions. You have the same choice today. Do not let the week end without making it. Get the word in you, stay in him, and refuse to be denied what God has already provided.

Father, I refuse to blame you for unanswered prayer. I humble myself and ask you to show me where I need to grow in faith and positioning. I want to be someone who moves mountains because I believe and I do not doubt.

Review the specific thing you wrote down on Tuesday. Pray over it again today using the scripture you found. Speak it out loud and close by saying, "I believe I receive this, in Jesus' name."
