Why the Humble Heart Receives God's Healing
Healing requires two forces working together: faith and the healing power of God, and a humble heart willing to learn how they connect. Drawing from Luke 5 and Mark 5, Pastor Hufton shows that every person who received healing had to overcome an obstacle, a rooftop, a crowd, to connect their faith with God's power. Our primary obstacle today is pride disguised as knowledge. When we assume we already understand something, we close ourselves off to the revelation that produces results. As Hosea 4:6 warns, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Isaiah 10:27 promises the yoke of sickness shall be destroyed by the anointing, not broken, destroyed. But experiencing that requires learning how God's healing power operates, just as electricity required discovery and understanding before it could benefit anyone. Pastor Hufton recalled witnessing Evangelist Rodney Howard-Browne minister at a packed meeting where hundreds were healed as God's power fell tangibly, a vivid reminder that the power is real, available, and waiting to be received by humble, prepared hearts.

1. SERMON RECAP
Pastor Mirek Hufton opened this powerful teaching by challenging the congregation to approach familiar scriptures and healing truths with fresh humility, warning that a "I already know that" attitude is one of the greatest obstacles to receiving from God. He unpacked the dual forces at work in every healing miracle — faith and the anointing power of God — showing through the stories of the paralyzed man in Luke 5 and the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 that both forces must come together for manifestation to occur. He challenged the group to stop measuring their knowledge by how much they can recite and to start measuring it by how much has actually been manifested in their lives.

Think of a time you were absolutely convinced you knew how to do something — cook a recipe, fix something around the house, navigate without GPS — and it turned out you were completely wrong. What happened, and what did you have to do differently?
(Allow everyone to share briefly. Use this to naturally transition into the idea that assuming we "already know" can close us off to receiving something we actually still need.)
4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Question 1 — Opening the Heart Pastor Mirek pointed out that a person's hunger and teachability often shows up in simple things — like whether they're taking notes, or how they're sitting, or whether their spirit is open. On a scale of 1 to 10, how teachable would you honestly say you are when it comes to healing? What makes it hard to stay in a posture of genuine learning on a topic you feel you've heard before?
Question 2 — Two Forces, Not One He drew attention to something we often blur together: faith and the healing power of God are two distinct forces that must work in cooperation with each other. In Luke 5, the paralyzed man's friends had faith, and the power of God was present in the room — but the roof was the obstacle standing between them. What "roofs" — attitudes, fears, unbelief, wrong company, lack of focus — might be preventing someone's faith from connecting with the power that's already available?
Question 3 — The Crowd and the Press The woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5 was physically weakened after 12 years of sickness, yet she pressed through a dense, thronging crowd to touch Jesus. Pastor Mirek emphasized that there is always an obstacle between a person and their healing. What does her determination say to us about the level of pursuit God honors? Is there a difference between casually hoping for healing and actively pressing in for it? What does "pressing in" actually look like in someone's daily life?
Question 4 — Knowledge vs. Manifestation Pastor Mirek made a statement that landed hard: "If you know it, it would manifest." He wasn't talking about mental, intellectual knowledge — he was talking about revelation knowledge that has gone deep enough into a person's spirit to produce results. What is the difference between knowing a scripture in your head and truly having it in your spirit? How does a person move from one to the other? Has anyone in the group experienced that shift — where something they "knew" for years finally became real in a new way?
Question 5 — The Anointing Is Real He described the anointing — the healing virtue, the power — as something tangible, transmittable, and real, comparing it to electricity: it has always existed, but knowledge of its laws is what allows people to benefit from it. What does it do to your faith when you begin to see the anointing not as something vague and mysterious, but as something with consistent, learnable, cooperate-able laws? Does that make it feel more accessible or does it raise new questions for you?
Question 6 — Environment and Unbelief Pastor Mirek was direct about the danger of surrounding yourself with people who carry unbelief — describing how unbelief in an environment can drown out a person's faith entirely. He urged the group not to share what they are believing God for with people who will hand them "a shovel." How do we practically guard our faith without becoming isolated or secretive? What does a genuinely faith-filled community look like, and how can this small group be that for one another?
5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE
This week, choose one specific healing truth from this message — for example, "The anointing destroys the yoke" (Isaiah 10:27) or "By His stripes I am healed" (1 Peter 2:24) — and make it your single daily focus for seven days.
Here is the specific challenge: - Write the chosen verse on a card or your phone lock screen. - Speak it aloud at least three times each day — morning, midday, and before sleep. - When your mind wanders to symptoms, timelines, or medical reports, gently redirect your focus back to the power, not the problem. - At the end of the week, journal one sentence about what shifted — even slightly — in how real that truth feels in your spirit.
Come back to the group next week ready to share what you noticed.
6. PRAYER POINTS
Close your time together by praying specifically over these three areas:

Humility and Teachability — Pray that each person in the group would have genuine softness of heart to receive new revelation, even on topics that feel familiar. Ask God to silence the "I already know this" voice and replace it with holy hunger.

Revelation of the Power — Pray that the Holy Spirit would move the truth of the anointing from head knowledge into deep, lived, spirit-level knowing for every person — especially those actively fighting sickness in their body right now. Ask God to make the healing virtue real and tangible to them this week.

Removing the Roof — Ask God to reveal and remove the specific obstacle — the "roof" or the "crowd" — that is standing between each person's faith and the power that is already present and available. Pray that every yoke of sickness and oppression would be destroyed by the anointing, in Jesus' name.

Stop Saying You Know — Start Letting God Teach
Hosea 4:6 — "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
I want to be honest with you today — one of the biggest obstacles I see in people receiving their healing isn't a lack of faith. It's the quiet pride that whispers, "I already know this." I've watched people sit in services, arms crossed, minds closed, because the teaching felt too elementary. But here's what I've learned: if something isn't manifesting in your life, there's more knowing you need to do. That's not condemnation — that's an invitation. God isn't withholding anything from you. He's waiting for you to open your hands and your heart wide enough to receive something new. Humility isn't weakness. It's actually the gateway through which revelation travels from your head down into your spirit. And when your spirit gets it — really gets it — your body comes alive. So today, tell your mind to quiet down. Let God in.
Lord, I confess I sometimes think I've heard it all before. Forgive me for closing my heart to what you still want to teach me. Open my spirit wide today to receive fresh revelation.
The Roof Is Coming Off
Isaiah 10:27 — "And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."
When I read the story of the paralyzed man being lowered through the roof in Luke 5, I'm struck by something we often miss. There were two forces at work — faith on the outside and power on the inside. The obstacle between them was a roof. Those friends didn't go home discouraged when they saw the crowd. They got creative, got determined, and tore the roof apart. I want to ask you today — what's your roof? What's standing between your faith and the healing power that's already present and waiting? It might be unbelief surrounding you. It might be words spoken over you by doctors or family. It might be discouragement that's settled in after years of waiting. Whatever it is, I'm telling you today — that roof can come off. The anointing destroys yokes. Not maybe. Not sometimes. It shall be destroyed.
Jesus, show me what roof is blocking me from connecting with your healing power. Give me the determination and courage to tear it down in your name.
Press Through the Crowd
Isaiah 5:13 — "Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst."
I think about that dear woman with the issue of blood every time I counsel someone who's been fighting sickness for years. Twelve years she suffered. She spent everything she had on doctors who left her worse, not better. And then she heard about Jesus. Notice — she didn't just feel good about Jesus from a distance. She pressed through a thronging crowd while physically weakened to touch the power that could heal her. There was a crowd between her and her miracle — just like there's often a crowd between us and ours. That crowd can be negative voices, religious unbelief, or even our own exhaustion. But she pushed anyway. And when her faith connected with his power — virtue flowed, the yoke broke, and she was free. I need you to understand today: the power is still there. You just have to keep pressing toward it.
Lord, I'm tired of letting the crowd stop me from reaching you. Give me the strength of that woman today — stubborn, desperate, determined faith that presses through to your healing power.
Focus on the Power, Not the Problem
Isaiah 10:27 — "The yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."
Here's something I had to learn the hard way when I was fighting my own battle with cancer — and it changed everything for me. I was checking my body for results. Checking my symptoms. Checking the numbers. And every time I checked, I was putting my focus on the wrong thing. The power of God doesn't increase because you keep examining the problem. It increases when you keep your eyes on the source. The anointing — that healing virtue, that power of God — is real. It's tangible. It flows. It transfers. When that woman touched Jesus, something left him and entered her. It was actual, transmittable healing power. And I believe that same power is coursing through your body right now, affecting a healing and a cure. Your job today isn't to monitor the manifestation. Your job is to focus on the power. Say it until it becomes more real to you than any symptom: the anointing is at work in me now.
Father, I choose today to fix my eyes on your healing power and not on my symptoms or circumstances. I declare that your anointing is real, it is active, and it is working in my body right now.
Go Out Swinging
Hosea 4:6 — "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."
I want to close this week by stirring something up in you — because I love you too much to leave you comfortable. If you are facing anything in your body right now, you cannot afford to be passive. I've told my own congregation: I'd rather go out swinging than surrender without a fight. The Word says healing is the children's bread. The Word says by his stripes we are healed. That's not a suggestion — that's a promise. And the power that saved your soul is the exact same power that can rebuild, repair, and restore your body. This week we've talked about the power and the faith that must work together. Now it's time to apply it — aggressively, persistently, joyfully. Surround yourself with believers who will agree with you. Saturate your mind with healing scriptures. Keep your mouth speaking what God says about your body. The anointing destroys yokes. Your yoke is coming off. I believe it with everything in me.
Lord, I am done being passive. I take hold of your Word today with both hands — I believe that your healing power is real, it is mine, and it is working. Thank you that the yoke is destroyed in Jesus' name.
