1. SERMON RECAP

4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. The Power of "Knowing" Pastor Mirek emphasized repeatedly that it is the knowing — recognizing, considering, and viewing yourself as truly dead to sin — that gives a believer practical power over it. What does it look like in everyday life when someone is living without that settled knowledge of who they are in Christ? How does confusion about our identity feed ongoing sin patterns?

2. One Nature or Two? He pushed back against the idea that Christians have an "old nature" and a "new nature" constantly at war, arguing instead that the born-again believer has one new creation nature, with an unredeemed flesh to be controlled. How does it change your approach to temptation if you think of yourself as a new creation managing your flesh, rather than two equal forces fighting inside you? Does that distinction feel meaningful or confusing to you?

3. Romans 7 in Context Pastor Mirek suggested that the famous passage in Romans 7 — "the good I want to do I don't do, and the evil I don't want to do, that I practice" — is describing an unregenerate person under the law, not a Spirit-filled believer's normal experience. Many Christians use that passage to excuse ongoing sin. Do you agree or disagree with his reading? How have you used — or heard others use — that passage in your own life?

4. The "Don't Present" Principle From Romans 6:12-13, Pastor Mirek highlighted the word "let" — sin only reigns when we allow it to. He also pointed to the idea of not presenting our members (our bodies, eyes, habits, and routines) to opportunities for sin. Where in your daily life are you currently presenting yourself to temptation without fully realizing it? What would it look like to close that door?

5. Grace vs. Antinomianism He warned about teachings that push grace so far that sin is no longer taken seriously — what theologians call antinomianism, and what he connected to the modern "doctrine of inclusion." How do we hold together the genuine grace and forgiveness of God (1 John 1:9) with a serious call to holiness? Where have you seen this balance handled well, and where have you seen it go off the rails?

6. Holiness and Power Pastor Mirek drew a direct connection between the level of anointing God releases and the level of holiness He requires — pointing to Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5 as a sobering example. He said, "The greater the power, the greater the level of anointing, you've got to be more careful about sin." Does that principle motivate you toward holiness, or does it feel more like pressure? How can the group help one another stay accountable without sliding into condemnation?

5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE

This week, identify one specific area where you know you have been presenting yourself to temptation — a website, a habit, a relationship dynamic, a media choice, or a thought pattern you keep entertaining. Take one concrete, physical step to close that door: delete the app, change your route, set a new screen-time limit, or ask a trusted friend to check in with you by next Sunday. Come back ready to share what step you took and how it felt.

6. PRAYER POINTS

• Revelation and Identity: Pray that each group member receives a deep, settled knowing in their spirit that they are a new creation in Christ — that the old man is truly gone and they carry the power of God to say no to sin.

• Specific Strongholds: Pray, without necessarily naming them aloud, for any area of sin that feels stubborn or cyclical in the lives of group members — that God would bring His light, His grace for genuine repentance, and practical freedom this week.

• The Church's Holiness: Pray in agreement with the heart of this message — that World Harvest Church, and the broader body of Christ, would rise to a new level of purity and consecration as God pours out greater anointing in these days.
