"The Scripture Cannot Be Broken"

Based on the Teaching of Pastor Mirek Hufton

1. SERMON RECAP

4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Question 1 — Understanding the Word Pastor Mirek described the Bible as "God's mind on paper," inspired by the Holy Spirit and confirmed by its remarkable unity across 40 authors, 10 countries, 66 books, and 1,500 years of writing. What does it mean to you personally that the Bible is not a human invention but a divinely breathed document? Does that reality change how you approach reading it?

Question 2 — Love and Obedience He drew a direct and challenging connection from John 14, pointing out that Jesus measured love for him by obedience to his Word. He stated plainly that a person does not love God more than they love his Word. How does that idea sit with your group? In what areas of life is it hardest to let the Word be the final authority rather than personal opinion or cultural pressure?

Question 3 — Selective Reading Pastor Mirek observed that many believers tend to accept the portions of Scripture that are comfortable and quietly set aside what challenges or corrects them. Without pointing fingers at others, can your group identify a teaching or principle in Scripture that is widely softened or ignored today? Why do you think that happens, and what does it cost us when it does?

Question 4 — The Word and Healing He returned several times to Psalm 107:20 — "He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." He testified that this verse carried him through a serious personal battle with his health. Where in your own life, or in the life of someone you love, have you seen or longed to see the healing power of God's Word at work? What does it look like practically to apply Scripture to a place of pain or fear?

Question 5 — Roots and Resistance Pastor Mirek warned that shallow engagement with the Word produces shallow roots, and that when pressure comes, believers without deep roots are easily uprooted by the enemy. He connected this directly to the storms and pressures he sees intensifying in culture and society. As a group, how do you honestly assess the depth of your roots right now? What habits or obstacles are keeping the Word from going deeper?

Question 6 — Awe and Familiarity He made a pointed observation that even Christians can treat the Bible as ordinary or common — something that has dropped in value through sheer familiarity. King David wrote in Psalm 119:161 that he stood in awe of God's Word. What would it look like for your group to recover a genuine sense of awe toward Scripture? Has there been a moment when a verse stopped you in your tracks and felt completely alive? Share it if you are willing.

5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE

This week, choose one passage of Scripture that you have previously read past quickly, found uncomfortable, or mentally filed away as something you would deal with later. Read it slowly every day for seven days. Write down in a notebook or on your phone what it is actually saying, what it is asking of you, and one specific way you can begin to align your life with it before the week is out. Bring what you discovered back to the group next time.

6. PRAYER POINTS

• Pray that God would replace any casual or selective attitude toward his Word with a renewed sense of holy awe and genuine hunger, just as Pastor Mirek called the congregation to experience.

• Pray for group members who are facing situations — in health, relationships, or faith — where they need to receive the promise of Psalm 107:20, that God would send his Word and bring healing and deliverance into those specific circumstances.

• Pray for courage and backbone, as Pastor Mirek put it, to stand on the Word of God in a culture that increasingly pressures believers to soften, dismiss, or compromise what Scripture clearly teaches.
