Your Word Is A Lamp To My Feet
In a world filled with confusion and competing voices, Pastor Mirek Hufton delivered a passionate call to return to the absolute authority of God's Word. Drawing from Psalm 119:105, he established three foundational truths: God's Word is absolutely true, absolutely powerful, and brings absolute life. Pastor Hufton emphasized that Scripture, written across 1,500 years by 40 authors, carries eternal authority that no human opinion, cultural trend, or academic institution can override. God's Word is not optional, and neither is the church community that teaches it. The sermon's most striking illustration came from Pastor Hufton's own life. During a seven-year battle with federal government authorities that threatened to destroy his ministry, he anchored himself daily in Exodus 14:14, "The Lord will fight for you." Rather than collapsing under pressure, he prayed relentlessly and stood firm. The result? His congregation raised a quarter-million dollars to close the case. The Word of God, Pastor Hufton declared, will blast you out of any prison the enemy builds around you.

"Your Word Is A Lamp To My Feet"
Based on the teaching by Pastor Mirek Hufton
1. SERMON RECAP
Pastor Mirek Hufton opened with the observation that we live in a world filled with confusion, where truth has been distorted and people are searching for direction from every source except the one that matters most. Drawing from Psalm 119:105, he presented three absolutes about God's Word: it is absolutely true, it is absolutely powerful, and it absolutely brings the life of God to those who receive it. He challenged the congregation to elevate the Word of God to its rightful place of authority in their daily lives, insisting that the depth of freedom we experience is directly tied to the depth of God's truth operating within us.
2. KEY SCRIPTURE
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
3. ICE BREAKER
Think of a time when you were physically lost or in the dark and something or someone helped you find your way. What was that experience like, and what made the difference?
4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Pastor Mirek described the Bible as an eternal, God-breathed document that stands above every human opinion and cultural trend. In practical terms, what does it actually look like to treat God's Word as the final authority in a decision you are currently facing? Where is that hardest to do?
2. He pointed out that belief is ultimately a moral choice, not just an intellectual one, referencing Romans 1 and the idea that people suppress what their conscience already tells them is true. Have you ever found yourself resisting something you knew the Bible clearly said? What was going on inside you during that time, and what helped you move toward the truth?
3. Pastor Mirek stated that the amount of bondage we experience is often directly connected to the amount of truth we are not allowing to operate in our lives. Where in your life right now do you sense that a deeper understanding or application of God's Word could bring greater freedom? What is one area where you feel stuck that the Word might speak into?
4. Hebrews 4:12 describes the Word of God as alive and full of power. Pastor Mirek shared vivid accounts of people being completely transformed, healed, and delivered simply through sustained exposure to Scripture. How has God's Word practically changed something in you, your thinking, your behavior, or your circumstances? What made that season of engagement with Scripture different from times when it felt routine?
5. He urged the group not to pick and choose which parts of Scripture to accept, warning that selective belief undermines the authority of the whole. Are there portions of the Bible that your group or your culture tends to quietly set aside or soften? Why do you think that happens, and what would it mean to engage honestly with those passages?
6. Pastor Mirek closed by connecting the life of God directly to time spent in the Word, saying that however much of God's life, peace, joy, and strength we want is connected to how much of His Word we are willing to take in. What is the single biggest obstacle in your current season of life that keeps you from deeper, more consistent engagement with Scripture? What would it take to remove or work around that obstacle this week?
5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE
This week, identify one specific area of your life where you have been relying more on outside opinions, feelings, or circumstances than on what God's Word says. Find two or three scriptures that speak directly to that area, write them on a card or in your phone, and read them aloud at least once each day for the next seven days. Come back to the group next week prepared to share what, if anything, began to shift.
6. PRAYER POINTS
-
Pray that each member of the group would develop a genuine hunger for God's Word that goes beyond routine Bible reading and becomes a daily source of life and direction.
-
Pray for any in the group who are currently in a difficult situation, a broken relationship, financial pressure, a health challenge, or a season of confusion, that God's Word would be a tangible lamp illuminating their very next step.
-
Pray for boldness to hold to absolute truth in a cultural moment that pressures believers to compromise, soften, or set aside what Scripture clearly teaches.
7. MEMORY VERSE
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV)
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Leader Note: Encourage group members to come to the next meeting ready to share how the application challenge went. Testimonies of God's Word at work build faith for the whole group.

The Book of Possibilities
Psalm 119:105 — "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
I want to tell you something — this Book in your hands is not just paper and ink. It is alive. It is full of complete possibilities, and I believe with everything in me that as you open it today, something shifts in your spirit. You're going to grow like you've never grown before. I've seen it happen. When we make the Word part of us — not just something we read occasionally but something we breathe — we rise above things that once kept us down. The devil throws things at us, but this Book is our answer every single time. There is no sadness in these pages that doesn't end in gladness. That's the God we serve. So let me ask you — are you excited? Because I am. This is your year to go deeper than you've ever gone.
Lord, thank You for giving me Your Word as a light for every step I take. Open my eyes today to see the possibilities You've placed inside these pages. I'm hungry, and I'm ready — lead me in.
Get Hungry For The Word
Matthew 4:4 — "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."
I don't know about you, but I've learned that hunger is everything. When I got truly hungry for the Word — not just reading out of religious duty but genuinely craving what God had to say — everything in my life began to change. Jesus Himself told us that the Word is food. Real food. The kind that sustains you when circumstances are falling apart around you. I believe God is stirring up a fresh hunger in you right now. You're going to make this Book part of you — part of how you think, how you speak, how you respond to life. And when you do, the devil's attacks just won't land the same way anymore. You'll have something inside you that pushes back. That's what the Word does — it nourishes your faith until your faith is stronger than your fear.
Father, give me a genuine hunger for Your Word that I've never had before. Let it become my daily bread, the thing I reach for first. Feed me, Lord — I'm opening my heart right now.
Coming Up Out of the Pit
Psalm 40:2 — "He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand."
I want you to hear me on this — nobody gets to tell you that you're staying down. Nobody. Not your past, not your circumstances, and certainly not the devil. Because I'm here to tell you that the Word of God is like a ladder, and you are climbing. Rung by rung, verse by verse, truth by truth — you are coming up. I've been in places where everything felt dark and heavy, and it was the Word that pulled me out. Not my own strength. Not my own cleverness. The Word. When God's truth gets inside you, it changes the direction you're moving. You stop sinking and you start rising. There is gladness on the other side of every hard season, and the Word is the path that gets you there. So don't you dare stay in that pit. Grab the ladder and climb.
Jesus, thank You that You are the Word made flesh and You came to lift me out of every pit. I grab hold of Your truth today and I choose to rise. Help me climb higher with You.
The Word That Lives Inside You
Colossians 3:16 — "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom."
There's a difference between knowing about the Word and having the Word live inside you. I want to challenge you today — are you letting it dwell richly? That word "richly" means abundantly, generously, with no shortage. Paul isn't talking about a quick glance at a verse before you rush into your day. He's talking about letting scripture move in, unpack its bags, and make itself at home in every corner of your thinking. When the Word dwells in you richly, it changes the way you see problems. It changes the way you speak over yourself and your family. It changes what you reach for when life gets hard. I believe you are going to grow in this like never before. We're not talking about religion — we're talking about relationship with a living God who speaks through every page of this Book.
Lord, I want Your Word to be at home in me — not visiting occasionally but living in me richly. Teach me how to make space for You in every part of my thinking and my day.
Rejoice — The Word Is Working
Jeremiah 15:16 — "When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty."
We have every reason to rejoice — and I mean every reason. Not because life is always easy, but because the Word of God is working in us right now. What God speaks does not return empty. Every truth you've read this week, every verse you've held onto, every prayer you've prayed — it's doing something. I love what Jeremiah says here: "When your words came, I ate them and they were my joy." That's exactly where I want us to be. Not just surviving on the Word — but delighting in it. Finding our gladness in it. We can rejoice in the work the Word is doing because of what it's going to bring us. This isn't wishful thinking — this is the promise of a God who cannot lie. Through Jesus, through the Word, through faith — we rise, we grow, and we rejoice.
Father, thank You that Your Word never returns void and that it's been working in me all week. I choose joy today, not because everything is perfect, but because You are faithful and Your Word is true.
