The Path To Victory
Victory in Christ is not a one-time event, it is a daily walk requiring active faith, obedience, and spiritual warfare. Pastor Willie Russell reminds us that our inheritance through Jesus includes victory over every weapon the enemy forms against us, whether sickness, financial struggle, or spiritual attack. 4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Pastor Russell pointed out that God gave Joshua a completely different path to victory than he gave Moses — even though the result looked similar (water parting). Has anyone in the group ever expected God to move in your life the same way He moved for someone else? What happened when He didn't follow that script?
2. Pastor Russell used the image of Jesus standing beside Joshua at Jericho with His sword already drawn, ready for battle. In John 10:10, Jesus says the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. What are some specific "weapons" the enemy uses in everyday life that the group has personally encountered? How does it change your perspective to know Jesus is already positioned and ready for the fight?
3. Pastor Russell made a striking visual illustration — demonstrating how many believers drop down to the enemy's level to fight, rather than fighting from the position of authority described in Ephesians 1. He reminded us that we are seated "far above" principalities and powers. What does it practically look like in your daily life to fight from a position of victory rather than fighting for a victory you don't yet believe you have?
4. Pastor Russell was honest and vulnerable when he said, "It's easy to preach victory when you're victorious — it's when you're struggling that it gets real." Have you ever been in a season where the Word of God felt more like a nice concept than a lived reality? How did you — or how are you — navigating that tension?

He challenged the group that our spiritual battles often require natural obedience — paying tithes during financial struggle, making healthier choices during a health battle, turning off tempting content during a battle with lust. Where have you seen that principle — spiritual victory connected to natural obedience — proven true in your own experience?
6. Pastor Russell closed by asking, "What wall are you standing at right now?" He reminded us that the victory is already ours in Christ — but we have to keep walking it out daily, just like the priests had to keep marching around Jericho. What is one "wall" in your life right now where you sense God asking you to keep walking even when the wall hasn't fallen yet?
5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE
This week, identify one specific area of your life where you have been fighting with earthly weapons — worry, doubt, fear, or avoidance — instead of spiritual ones. Choose one spiritual weapon from this list and intentionally use it every day for seven days in that area: daily praise (spoken out loud), Scripture confession (finding and declaring a specific verse over the situation), or prayer in the Holy Spirit (dedicated, intentional prayer time specifically about that battle). At your next group meeting, be ready to share what you noticed when you shifted your approach.

Pray for revelation — that every member of the group would receive a deep, settled conviction in their spirit that they are already victorious in Christ, not based on circumstances but based on the finished work of the cross.

Pray for the walls — specifically lift up the "Jerichos" in group members' lives, whether that is a health challenge, a financial struggle, a broken relationship, or a spiritual battle, asking God to send His presence to stand beside them just as He stood beside Joshua.

Pray for perseverance — that when victory is slow in coming and the path looks uncertain, the group would have the courage and faith to keep walking, keep praising, and keep trusting God's Word over what their natural eyes can see.

Daily Devotional
Your Victory Is Already Yours
1 Corinthians 15:57 — "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
I want you to grab hold of something this morning that changed everything for me — your victory isn't something you're still waiting to earn. It's already been purchased. When Jesus went to that cross, beaten and broken, it didn't look like victory to anybody standing there. The disciples were terrified. Nobody was celebrating. But Sunday came, and everything changed. Here's what I've learned: victory doesn't always look like victory in the moment. You might be sitting in a doctor's office right now, or staring at a bank account that makes no sense, or watching a marriage struggle. None of that looks like victory. But your inheritance in Christ says otherwise. You are victorious — not because of anything you did, but because of everything He did. Don't let what you see shake what you know. Stand on the Word today.
Lord, help me believe today that the victory is already mine because of what You did at the cross. When things don't look victorious, remind me of my inheritance in You. Thank You, Jesus, for settling it once and for all.
Your Path Won't Look Like Mine

Here's something I had to learn the hard way — just because God gave somebody else the victory a certain way doesn't mean He's going to do it the same way for me. When Moses led the people across the Red Sea, nobody got their feet wet. But when Joshua came to the Jordan, God told the priests to step into the overflowing water first. Same God. Same people. Completely different path. I've seen well-meaning Christians try to hand somebody else their testimony like it's a blueprint. But your victory is between you and God. The results might look the same — breakthrough, healing, restoration — but how He gets you there is uniquely yours. Don't get discouraged because your path looks different. Get in the Word, get in His presence, and trust that He knows exactly what He's doing with your life.
Father, forgive me for comparing my journey to someone else's. Help me trust that the way You're leading me is the right way for me. I want Your specific word for my specific situation, Lord.
Lock the Door Before the Thief Arrives
John 10:10 — "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
I need to be straight with you today — the enemy is real, and he's coming. The Bible doesn't say he might show up. It says he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. That means he already has a plan, and he's already moving. The question is whether you've locked the door. What goes through your eye gate matters. What goes through your ear gate matters. The things you watch, the conversations you entertain, the words you speak over yourself — those are all open doors or locked doors. I'm not trying to make you paranoid. I'm trying to wake you up. You have an inheritance — victory, healing, abundance, peace — and the enemy wants every bit of it. But here's the good news: he has no authority over you. He just needs an open door. Lock it. Guard your heart, your eyes, your ears, and your mouth today.
Lord, help me be alert today to what I'm allowing into my spirit. Show me any open doors that give the enemy access to my peace, my faith, or my family. I choose to guard what You've placed in me.
Fight From Victory, Not For It
Ephesians 1:20-21 — "Which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named."
This is something that shifted the way I fight. I'm not fighting to get the victory — I'm fighting because I already have it. There's a massive difference. When I'm fighting for victory, I'm desperate, I'm scared, and I come right down to the enemy's level. I'm begging cancer to leave, I'm arguing with depression, I'm negotiating with fear. But when I understand that I'm seated far above every principality, every power, every name — including the name of that disease, that addiction, that broken situation — I don't come down to its level. I speak to it from above. The enemy is under my feet, not in my face. That's the position Christ purchased for me. So today, stop begging and start declaring. Stop negotiating and start commanding. You have the Name above every name living inside of you. Use it.
Jesus, remind me today that I'm already seated with You in heavenly places. Help me stop fighting from a place of fear and start declaring from a place of authority. The victory is mine because it's Yours first.
Keep Walking — The Wall Is Coming Down
Romans 8:37 — "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."
I want to close this week by reminding you — keep walking. The children of Israel didn't see the walls of Jericho fall on the first day they marched. They didn't fall on the second day, or the third. They just kept walking. I imagine there were moments of doubt. Moments where it looked absolutely ridiculous. But they kept following the specific Word God had given them, and on the appointed day, those walls came down with a shout. Whatever wall you're standing in front of today — that diagnosis, that financial mountain, that prodigal child, that struggling marriage — I need you to keep walking. Keep praising. Keep showing up to the house of God. Keep reading the Word. Keep praying. Jesus is standing right beside you, sword drawn, and He has never lost a battle. Not one. Your wall is coming down. Don't stop now.
Father, give me the strength to keep walking even when I can't see the walls moving. I trust that You are working even when I can't feel it. I choose praise over panic and faith over fear today.
