4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. Pastor Mirek talked about how even our spiritual lives can go "stale" over time. Have you ever gone through a season where your faith felt flat or dry? Without going too deep too fast, what did that feel like, and what — if anything — helped shift it?
2. In Luke 4:18, Jesus announced that the Spirit of the Lord was upon Him and had anointed Him. Pastor Mirek said every born-again believer also carries an anointing — not just pastors and ministers. Does that idea feel natural to you or does it feel like a stretch? What might change in how you live if you truly believed the Holy Spirit had anointed you for everyday life?
3. Pastor Mirek said that joy is a mark — a sign — that the Holy Spirit is flowing in your life, and that if the joy is gone, it's worth asking whether the presence of God has faded in that area. Do you agree with that connection between joy and God's presence? Is there a difference between being a joyful personality and walking in the joy of the Lord?
4. Acts 2:28 uses the word "enraptured" to describe what happens when we step into God's presence. That's a pretty intense word! What does it tell us about the kind of joy God actually wants for us — and how does that compare with how most Christians you know seem to experience their faith day to day?
5. I talked about how giving the gospel away — actually going out and sharing your faith — is one of the most powerful ways to keep the fire burning and the oil fresh. Why do you think giving something away would actually fill you up rather than drain you? Has there been a moment when serving, sharing, or helping someone else actually energized your faith?
6. Pastor Mirek mentioned that the times of refreshing in Acts 3:19 come from the presence of the Lord — like cool air on a hot day. What are the practices, rhythms, or habits in your own life that genuinely bring that sense of refreshing from God? And honestly — are those things currently active in your life, or have they drifted?
5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE
This week, choose one intentional "fresh oil" moment — set aside 20 minutes on a specific day and time you commit to right now, and use that time to do nothing but worship, pray in the Spirit, or simply sit in God's presence with no agenda. No prayer list, no Bible study plan — just come to be with Him. At your next group meeting, share one sentence about what you noticed.

Let Joy Be Your Continual Feast
1 Thessalonians 5:16 — "Rejoice evermore."
I love how the Passion Translation puts this verse — "Let joy be your continual feast." That's not a suggestion, that's an invitation from God himself. Joy isn't something we stumble into on good days. It's a daily choice, a posture of the heart that says, "God, you are good, and I will celebrate that today." I've seen too many believers walking through life like they're dragging a heavy cross with no resurrection at the end. But that's not the Christian life God designed for you. He wants you bubbling over — genuinely overflowing with his presence. Think about fresh bread right out of the oven. There's nothing like it. That's what God wants your spiritual life to feel like — warm, alive, and irresistible to everyone around you. Don't let your walk with Jesus go stale. Choose joy today, right now, as an act of faith.
Father, I choose joy today even before I feel it. Fill me fresh with your presence and let that joy become my strength. Thank you that rejoicing is not just possible — it's your will for my life.
Fresh Oil For A New Day
Psalm 92:10 — "I shall be anointed with fresh oil."
I read that verse and it just made my whole day. Fresh oil. Not yesterday's oil. Not oil from six months ago when you had that powerful encounter with God. Fresh oil — today, right now, for this moment you're living in. Here's what I've learned: you can't pour fresh oil into a dirty vessel and expect it to stay pure. Old bitterness, old offences, old habits — they'll contaminate everything God wants to pour in. That's why repentance and worship aren't just religious routines. They're how we clean our vessel and make room for something new. The same God who anointed kings and prophets in the Old Testament wants to anoint you today with fresh power, fresh joy, and fresh purpose. You don't have to run on empty. You don't have to operate on stale religion. Go to God this morning and ask him plainly — Lord, give me fresh oil.
Lord, I come to you with an open heart today. Clean out anything that's gone stale inside me and pour your fresh anointing over my life. I want to be full of you — genuinely full — not just going through the motions.
The Spirit Is Upon You
Luke 4:18 — "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor."
When Jesus stood up in that synagogue and read from Isaiah 61, he wasn't just describing his own mission — he was previewing yours. Acts 1:8 makes it clear: the same anointing that rested on Jesus is available to every believer. You have been anointed and qualified by the Holy Ghost to carry good news into your world. Your workplace, your neighbourhood, your family — these are your mission field. I've seen the most ordinary people step out in faith to share Jesus and come back absolutely lit up with joy. That's not a coincidence. When you operate in the anointing God placed on you, joy flows naturally. The anointing doesn't make you weird — it makes you bold, warm, and effective. Stop waiting until you feel ready. The Spirit is already upon you. Step out of the boat and watch what God does.
Holy Spirit, thank you that your anointing is already on my life. Give me boldness today to share your love with someone who needs it. I trust that when I step out, you will show up.
Don't Quench The Fire
1 Thessalonians 5:19 — "Quench not the Spirit."
Three simple words — but they carry enormous weight. You can quench the fire of the Holy Ghost in your life. Not deliberately, not dramatically, but slowly — through neglect, distraction, and allowing the noise of the world to drown out the voice of God. I've met believers with stale oil. You can see it. The spark is gone. They know the right words but there's no life behind them. Don't let that be you. The fire needs fuel. Worship is fuel. Prayer in the Spirit is fuel. Giving away the gospel is fuel — honestly, one of the best ways I know to keep the fire burning is to go tell somebody about Jesus. When you pour out, God pours back in. Generosity with the gospel creates overflow. So today, don't just coast. Fan the flame. Get around people who are on fire. Get in an environment where God is moving. Keep the fire going.
Holy Ghost, I don't want to quench your fire in my life — not even a little. Show me where I've grown cold and breathe fresh life into me today. I want to burn brightly for you.
Enraptured By His Presence
Acts 2:28 — "You have made known to me the ways of life; you will enrapture me with joy with your presence."
I love that word — enraptured. It means caught up, overwhelmed, filled to overflowing. That's what the presence of God does to a surrendered heart. Joy isn't something you manufacture or work yourself into. It flows naturally from genuine contact with God. When you step into his presence — really step in, not just go through the motions — joy comes. It can't help itself. That's why I always say: if the joy is gone, the presence has grown distant. Not because God moved, but because we drifted. The good news is the way back is always open. Worship him, thank him, talk to him like he's real and right there — because he is. Let this be the kind of Friday where you finish the week enraptured, not exhausted. Overflowing, not dried out. You were made to live in the joy of his presence. Come home to it today.
Father, I want to finish this week in your presence, not running on empty. Draw me close today and let your joy overflow in me until it spills onto everyone around me. You are worth celebrating.
