2. Pastor Mirek walked through the story of Obed-Edom, a man whose name literally means "to serve God." Once Obed-Edom discovered that housing the ark brought supernatural blessing to his household, he never wanted to leave the presence of God. What does his story reveal about the connection between proximity to God and the blessings that follow faithful service?

He pointed to Philippians 2:7, where it says that Jesus took on the form of a servant, and noted that the Greek word used is "doulos," meaning a bond-servant who has given himself completely to his master. The goal is not to overhaul your schedule but to take one deliberate step toward serving as unto the Lord rather than waiting for the perfect moment.

You Were Made to Serve
Ephesians 2:10 — "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
I want you to hear something personal this morning — you are not an accident, and your life is not without purpose. When God created you and brought you into His family, He wired you specifically for service. I've seen this truth play out over and over in our church family. The most miserable people I know are those living entirely for themselves. But the ones overflowing with joy? They're the ones giving their lives away. Good works aren't just big missionary journeys or dramatic moments. Sometimes good works is showing up faithfully every single week, replacing bent cards in the pews, greeting a stranger at the door, or rocking a baby in the nursery. God prepared these moments for you before you even arrived. When you serve, you're walking straight into your God-given design. Don't walk away from what you were made for.
Lord, thank You for creating me with purpose and intention. Help me to see every act of service — big or small — as something You prepared just for me. I want to walk in the good works You designed for my life.
Working As If Jesus Is Watching

I've shared this with our congregation and I'll say it again here — Jesus is watching everything we do. He is the ultimate observer of our hearts. I remember working labor jobs in my earlier years, and the moment the boss walked in, everyone's effort suddenly picked up. But here's what I want you to really grasp: Jesus isn't just an occasional supervisor checking in. He's present always, watching not just your actions but your attitude behind them. When you serve in the house of God — whether you're directing parking, singing on the worship team, or painting a wall — do it as if Jesus Himself is standing right beside you. Because He is. This changes everything. It turns ordinary tasks into holy moments. It turns routine service into genuine worship. Whatever your hands find to do today, do it wholeheartedly — not for applause, not for recognition, but for Him alone.
Jesus, forgive me for the times I've done things halfway or only when people were watching. I want everything I do today to be an offering to You. Help me to serve with my whole heart, knowing You see every moment.
The Secret of Obed-Edom
Philippians 2:7 — "But made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men."
I love the story of Obed-Edom. His very name means "to serve God in a way that is right," and once he discovered that serving God brought supernatural blessing, you simply could not pull him away from the presence of God. His household was financially blessed, his wife bore children, and eventually he had sixty-two sons and grandsons — all described as able and strong. But here's what grips me most: he chose to keep serving. He could have sat back and enjoyed the blessings. Instead, he said, let me carry the ark, let me learn the harp, let me be the gatekeeper. He just kept showing up. And Jesus Himself modeled this perfectly — the King of all kings took on the form of a servant. If Jesus humbled Himself to serve, how much more should we? There is a secret unlocked in faithful service that changes your whole household.
Father, give me the heart of Obed-Edom — someone who discovers the blessing of Your presence through service and simply never wants to leave. I humble myself before You today, knowing that You exalt those who serve faithfully.
Faithful in the Little Things
Luke 16:10 — "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much."
I'll be completely honest with you — before I ever stepped into full-time ministry, I was hanging wallpaper in the church nursery on a Saturday night until ten o'clock, regluing everything I'd already done because I used the wrong paste. Nobody gave me an award for that night. Nobody even knew about it except my pastor and God. But that season of faithfulness was preparing me for everything that came afterward. I've watched gifted people come and go — talented, charismatic, full of ability — but ability only shows what you've been given. Faithfulness reveals what you get to keep. Saul had every natural gift imaginable, yet unfaithfulness disqualified him. God is not impressed by your talents alone. He's watching whether you'll show up when it's inconvenient, unglamorous, and unnoticed. Whatever little assignment is in front of you right now — do it faithfully. God is building something through that moment you think doesn't matter.
Lord, I confess I've sometimes waited for the big assignment while neglecting the small ones right in front of me. Help me to be faithful today in the little things, trusting that You are watching and preparing me for more. I choose faithfulness over recognition.
The Rewards Are Real
Ephesians 4:11-12 — "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."
I want to close this week by reminding you — the rewards of faithful service are absolutely real, both now and in eternity. When I look at the people in our church who serve consistently, I see it written all over their lives. There's a supernatural favor, a deep fulfillment, a peace that others are searching for. Their children love God. Their homes carry a blessing. They walk in purpose rather than restlessness. And one day, we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account — not of our bank accounts or achievements, but of how we used what He gave us to serve His body. I want to send treasure on ahead. I want Jesus to know that I gave everything I had to serve His people faithfully. Friend, you have a ministry. You are a minister. The rewards are waiting — don't leave them unclaimed by sitting on the sidelines of your own calling.
Father, thank You that serving You is never wasted. Help me to finish this week with fresh eyes for how I can give myself to Your body. I want to hear "well done" one day, and I know that starts with faithfulness today. I'm all in, Lord.
