The 10 Virgins: Are You Ready?
We are living on a divine clock, and the signs of Christ's return are all around us. In this urgent and powerful message, Pastor Mirek walks through the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew 25 and ask the question every believer must answer honestly: are you truly ready for the Lord's return? This is not a message about fear, it is a call to consecration, preparation, and living fully surrendered to Jesus Christ.

"The 10 Virgins: Are You Ready?" — Matthew 25:1–13
1. SERMON RECAP
Pastor Mirek Hufton preached from Matthew 25, using the parable of the ten virgins to call the church to genuine readiness for the return of Jesus Christ. He walked through the end-times timeline, from the rapture through the tribulation and the return of Christ, to show just how urgent and real this moment in history is. He challenged every believer to examine the oil level of their own spiritual life and to stop playing a comfortable religious game when Jesus could return at any moment.
2. KEY SCRIPTURE
Matthew 25:10 "And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut."
3. ICE BREAKER
When you were a child, what is one thing you were told to be ready for that you completely forgot to prepare for, and what happened as a result?
4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
Point 1: Pastor Mirek opened the parable by noting that five of the ten virgins were wise and five were foolish, and that the difference came down to the oil they carried, representing the depth of their preparation and consecration before God. What does genuine spiritual preparation actually look like in daily life, and how do you know when you are running low?
Point 2: He asked his congregation point-blank whether they pray every day, and he connected consistent prayer directly to being filled with the Holy Spirit and ready for Christ's return. What tends to crowd out daily prayer in your own life, and what has helped you protect that time when life gets busy?
Point 3: Pastor Mirek challenged the idea of treating church attendance as optional or as a box to check once a month, saying that consistent, committed gathering with the body of Christ is how believers move up the ladder of their calling. How has regular, committed church attendance shaped your faith in a way that occasional attendance could not have?
Point 4: He referenced tithing and giving as one of the five markers of a serious disciple, and he tied generosity to a life that is surrendered to God rather than consumed with self. What has your experience with giving taught you about trust, and where do you feel God might be stretching you in that area right now?
Point 5: Pastor Mirek described serving in the local church as a key way believers throw their lives away for Jesus, and he pointed to that kind of surrender as the paradox that produces real joy and fulfillment. What is one area in the church where you are currently serving, or where you sense God may be calling you to serve, and what is holding you back from stepping fully into it?
5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE
Before the group meets again, each member should honestly score themselves on all five markers Pastor Mirek named: daily Bible reading, daily prayer, weekly church attendance, tithing, and serving, and identify the one area that is weakest. They should then take one concrete step in that specific area this week: schedule a regular prayer time, set up automatic giving, sign up for a serve team, or whatever the honest gap reveals. Members should come back ready to share what they discovered and what step they took.
6. PRAYER POINTS
- Pray that each group member would have the courage to honestly examine the oil level in their spiritual life and respond with genuine consecration rather than comfortable religion.
- Pray for the church as a whole, that it would wake up to the urgency of the hour, shake off spiritual apathy, and rise to fulfill the calling God has placed on each member.
- Pray for those who do not yet know Christ, that before His return, they would hear the gospel, respond, and have their names written in the Book of Life.
7. MEMORY VERSE
Luke 21:36 "Watch and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

The Clock Is Ticking — Are You Watching?
2 Peter 3:3 — "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts."
On Sunday, I stood before you and said we are on a divine clock. God's prophetic timeline is not a suggestion, it is a certainty. The scoffers Peter warned about are everywhere today, mocking the idea that Jesus is coming back, living however they please, dismissing the signs all around them. But I want you to understand something deeply personal: God is not hiding His plans from you. He has given us 66 books, 17 prophetic, so that we would be awake and ready. The resurrection of Israel as a nation in 1948 alone should shake you awake. These are not coincidences. These are God keeping His word, exactly as He promised. The question I asked on Sunday is still sitting in the room: if Jesus showed up in the next five seconds, are you genuinely ready? Not religiously ready. Actually ready. Let that question settle in your heart today.
Lord, wake me up from any spiritual sleepiness that has crept into my life. Open my eyes to the signs of Your return and let them draw me closer to You, not further into distraction. I want to be ready, truly ready, when You come.
Pray Like It Matters — Because It Does
Luke 21:36 — "Watch and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
On Sunday, I asked a room full of people five simple questions. The second one was this: do you pray every day? Not when things fall apart. Not when you need something urgently. Every day. Jesus Himself gave us this instruction in Luke 21, watch and pray always. The word always is not comfortable. It does not leave room for seasons where we drift and go quiet with God. Prayer is not a religious checkbox. It is how you stay filled. Think back to the ten virgins. The foolish ones ran out of oil. They had not maintained what they needed to keep going. Daily prayer is how you stay full. It is how you stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit. It is how you stay aware of what God is doing and what He is asking of you. A prayerless Christian is running on empty, and empty will not get you where you need to go.
Father, forgive me for the days I have treated prayer as optional. I want to talk with You every single day, not out of duty but out of genuine love and dependence. Teach me to pray always.
You Need the Body — Stop Going It Alone
Hebrews 12:1 — "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us."
On Sunday, I told you that every Christian needs a church. Not a building, not a stream online when it is convenient, but a consistent, committed connection to the body of Christ. Hebrews 12 talks about laying aside every weight so you can run. But here is what I want you to see, you cannot run well alone. The church is not where you sit and watch. It is where weights get dropped. It is where the sin that has been slowing you down gets named, confronted, and removed. I shared the story of a woman who started coming every Sunday, went through Bible school, got the Word in her, and watched every barrier in her life break down, her health, her marriage, her finances, her calling. That did not happen by accident. It happened because she positioned herself consistently inside the body of Christ. You cannot ladder-climb if you only show up once a month.
Lord, I do not want to be a lone-ranger Christian anymore. Connect me deeply to Your body, to people who will speak truth into my life and run alongside me. Let my commitment to Your house be consistent and full of purpose.
Generosity Is an Act of Readiness
Isaiah 6:8 — "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."
On Sunday, I asked the fourth question: do you give tithes and offerings? I know that question makes some people uncomfortable, but stay with me. Isaiah said, here am I, Lord, send me. That posture, surrendered, available, open-handed, is exactly what giving reflects. When you tithe and give offerings, you are not just funding a budget. You are declaring with your finances that God is first, that you trust Him, and that His mission matters more than your comfort. I said on Sunday that the paradox of the gospel is this: the more you give your life away, the more He gives back. That applies to your money too. A closed fist cannot receive anything. Generosity is not just a financial discipline, it is a spiritual one. It says, I am not holding on to this world so tightly that I miss what God has for me. The wise virgins prepared. Preparation always costs something.
Father, loosen my grip on what I have and remind me that everything I own belongs to You anyway. Make me a generous giver who trusts You completely with every part of my life, including my finances.
Give Your Life Away — That Is the Point
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 — "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
On Sunday, I wrapped everything up with the fifth question: do you serve in the house of God? And I want to tie it all the way back to where I started, Jesus is coming. That trumpet is real. That shout is coming. And when it does, I want to be found with my hands full of purpose, not my arms crossed in the back row. Serving is not a burden. It is the highest privilege of a believer. I told you on Sunday that I bounce on one foot, go on missions, pray with people, send others out, not because I have to, but because there is no high like the Most High. Serving empties you of yourself and fills you with Him. The foolish virgins had nothing to give because they had invested nothing. The wise had more than enough. Be wise. Serve. Give yourself away. Jesus is at the door.
Lord, show me where You want my hands and feet this season. I do not want to just attend and observe, I want to serve and pour out what You have put in me. Let me be found faithful when You return.
