4. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. The Word as the Power Delivery System Pastor Mirek made the striking observation from Luke 5:17 that the power of the Lord was present to heal while Jesus was teaching — and that the teaching itself was what released that power into the room. How does that reframe the way your group thinks about coming to a Bible study or a church service? Does it change the level of expectation you bring?

2. Awareness of What's Already Present Pastor Mirek pointed out something sobering: the power was present to heal everyone in the room in Luke 5, yet only one person was healed. He suggested people can sit under the Word and be completely unaware that healing power is being released around them. What do you think creates that unawareness? What are the things — distractions, doubt, familiarity, unbelief — that might cause someone to miss what God is already doing?

3. The Rooftop Kind of Faith He described the four friends in Luke 5 who carried the paralyzed man, climbed a roof, tore it open, and lowered their friend down to Jesus — all while managing ropes, tiles, and the very real risk of dropping the man. Pastor Mirek called this "extreme faith for an extreme situation." Where in your own life — or in someone you love — does the situation call for that kind of determined, creative, won't-take-no-for-an-answer faith? What's held you back from going to that level?

4. Proverbs 4 and the Medicine of the Word Pastor Mirek drew the group's attention to Proverbs 4:20-22, where the original Hebrew word translated "health" is the same word used for medicine. He said the Word of God is literally medicinal — something to be taken consistently, like a prescription, morning, noon, and night. How does your group currently "take" the Word? Is it more of an occasional supplement or a daily prescription? What would it look like to treat specific healing scriptures the way a doctor treats a treatment plan?

5. Tradition, Experience, and Blocking the Power One of the more challenging moments in the sermon came when Pastor Mirek described how well-meaning churches — even the mission his own parents served in — pulled books on healing from their shelves because they weren't experiencing it, and then built doctrine around their lack of experience rather than around the Word. He said, "We use our experience to draft and create our doctrines." How have you seen this happen — in churches, in families, or even in your own thinking? How do we guard ourselves against letting our unanswered prayers become the lens through which we read Scripture?

6. The Motive Behind the Fight Toward the end of his message, Pastor Mirek got very personal, sharing that when he was given 90 days to live, his driving force was not comfort or convenience — it was his calling. He said, "No, devil, you're not robbing me of my calling." He challenged everyone to ask: What is YOUR reason to be well? What has God put in you that the enemy is trying to cut short? Invite each group member to share — even briefly — what they believe God has called them to do or be. How does having a clear sense of calling change the way you fight for your health, your mind, or your freedom?

5. APPLICATION CHALLENGE

This week's challenge: Build your healing prescription.

Pastor Mirek referenced Proverbs 4:20-22 and described healing scriptures as medicine to be taken on a schedule. This week, each group member is challenged to write out three healing scriptures on index cards or in their phone notes — one from the Old Testament, one from the Gospels, and one from the Epistles. Set a phone alarm for morning, midday, and evening. At each alarm, read one of those scriptures aloud — not just in your head — and follow it with a simple declaration: "The healing power of God is at work in my body, affecting a healing and a cure, in Jesus' name." Do this for all seven days before your next group meeting, and come ready to share what you noticed — in your body, your thinking, or your faith level.

6. PRAYER POINTS

• For revelation, not just information: Pray that the Holy Spirit would take the healing scriptures each group member is meditating on and make them alive — moving them from head knowledge into genuine heart belief that releases faith.

• For those fighting a specific diagnosis or physical battle: Pastor Mirek ministered to several people facing cancer, chronic pain, and serious illness. Pray by name for anyone in the group facing a health challenge, standing on Romans 8:11 — that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead is alive in their mortal body, working restoration right now.

• For boldness to guard the atmosphere of faith: He warned the group about well-meaning people — relatives, friends, even pastors — who speak doubt and unbelief over those fighting for healing. Pray for wisdom and gentle boldness to protect the faith environment around each person in the group, and for grace to speak life rather than fear in every conversation about health.

Romans 8:11 (NKJV) "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."
